The meeting brought together technicians from UPME <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(Colombian energy planning company), XM (Colombian electrical system <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">operator), and other companies in the energy transmission sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">On the occasion, the PSR team presented the intermediate results of the study <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u201cPlanificaci\u00f3n Flexible de la Transmisi\u00f3n\u201d, contracted by the ISA group, <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Intercolombia and Transelca. The study aims to carry out transmission planning <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">for Colombia&#8217;s national electrical system incorporating flexible equipment such <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">as FACTS and batteries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Carried out by Julia Spiegel and Silvio Binato, the PSR presentation illustrated <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the results of estimates of potential benefits for the installation of these new <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">flexible technologies in the Colombian system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The next steps of the study involve the development of expansion plans <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">considering these flexible technologies, always in a context of enabling a large <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">insertion of variable renewable energies (such as wind and solar) into the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Colombian system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The results will be presented in December this year.
