The joint effort aims to integrate renewable energy and long-term storage solutions to meet the demands of decarbonization and energy modernization in both Latin America and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Operating in more than 70 countries, PSR is globally recognized for its innovative analytical solutions and energy system planning software. Together with AI4OPT\u2019s expertise, PSR seeks to develop cutting-edge solutions to optimize the operation of energy systems, promoting greater efficiency and sustainability in the energy sector. In addition to Georgia Tech, AI4OPT brings together researchers from the University of Berkeley and the University of Southern California, among others. AI4OPT is a leader in the intersection of artificial intelligence and power systems, with industry partners including companies such as Google and Intel, as well as other institutions and laboratories.<\/p>\n<p>A key goal of this collaboration is to develop efficient energy storage methods, such as pumped storage hydropower. This technology allows energy to be stored efficiently by pumping water to elevated reservoirs during periods of low demand and generating electricity during peak demand.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the partnership aims to use machine learning to improve the ability of power system operators to perform faster and more accurate security checks. With the increase in power generation from intermittent renewable sources, traditional methods are struggling to ensure grid stability.
