The Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) highlighted in its audit report on the sustainability of energy distributors a study developed by PSR in partnership with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP). The document, titled \u201cPaths to Tariff Justice in the Brazilian Electricity Sector,\u201d analyzes in depth the distortions in the allocation of costs and benefits in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Published in May, the Policy Paper proposes ten actions to mitigate tariff injustice in Brazil. The document highlighted high tariffs due to the pressure of subsidies and sectoral charges, the unfair distribution of systemic costs, and the disproportionate burden of electricity bills on the budgets of vulnerable families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mention comes in a relevant context in Brazilian politics, shortly after the approval of Provisional Measure 1,300\/2025 by Congress, which reformulates the Social Tariff for Electricity (TSEE), in line with aspects recommended by the study. In this sense, the TCU\u2019s recognition reinforces the importance of research that connects with public policymaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This work is part of a series of publications that PSR and GEAPP have been developing around a roadmap for a just energy transition. The topic is expected to gain traction in discussions leading up to COP30 in Bel\u00e9m in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
