OPENING OF ELECTRICITY MARKET: COORDINATED OR STAMPEDE?

OPINION

In this editorial, we discuss the MME proposal for partial opening of the Brazilian market to be made by the year 2022, showing the issues that motivated PSR's contribution to the Public Consultation.

REGULATORY

In this month's regulatory section we commented on (i) Public Consultation No. 76/2019 and the figure of the retail trader; (ii) ANEEL's easing of the MVE power sales limit for some distributors and (iii) two new MME public consultations.

WATER RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT

In this section, we analyze the situation of the Manaus-Boa Vista transmission line, which would interconnect the capital of Boavista to the rest of the SIN, but whose licensing was interrupted by the Public Prosecution Service.

INTERNATIONAL

In this issue, we look at Colombia's resolution project that determines a minimum of 10% renewable energy procurement by regulated traders, and an additional mechanism in the renewable auction that will result in involuntary procurement to achieve this goal.

SUPPLY

This edition features the updated balance of demand and structural supply of energy for years to come, including our traditional Delay Meter.
