STORAGE SYSTEMS: IMPORTANCE AND INTEGRATION IN THE MARKETS

OPINION

In this editorial, we present a general economic discussion about the international experience with market models and ongoing regulatory adaptations to integrate storage systems and lessons for the regulatory actions under debate in Brazil, especially those driven by ANEEL’s Taking of Subsidies 11/2020.

REGULATORY

In this section, we comment on the changes to the regulation of the “GSF Law” approved by ANEEL and on other relevant issues that moved during the month.

WATER RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT

In this section, we discuss whether water markets are good or bad, analyze California's case, and draw a parallel with Brazil, presenting the lessons for better water resources management.

INTERNATIONAL

This section analyzes the changes proposed by the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy for the third renewable energy auction in the country to be held in June/2021.

INNOVATION

This section presents some ways to explain/interpret the results of a Deep Learning (DL) model - an important obstacle to incorporating DL into many activities.

STRUCTURAL SUPPLY ANALYSIS

It presents the updated balance of demand and structural energy supply for the coming years and our traditional delay meter.
