OPINION

In PSR's view, this editorial addresses the issues that should constitute the core of a sector agenda for the Brazilian Electricity Sector for 2022.

REGULATORY

In this section, we comment on the revision of Normative Resolution No. 697/2015 on ancillary services, in addition to other relevant topics.

WATER RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT

In this section, we discuss Brazil's needs in the face of climate change and the accentuation of extreme events: on the one hand, more severe droughts and the recent water crisis; on the other, the rainy season that brought floods in several Brazilian states.

INTERNATIONAL

This month's international section briefly addresses the current gas supply crisis involving the European Union and Russia, as well as the alternatives studied for European supplies in the event of a Russian supply cut.

INNOVATION

In this section, we comment on a new technology that can contribute to the scalability of the demand response inspired by energy “packets” that send real-time signals to consumers to adjust supply and demand.

STRUCTURAL SUPPLY ANALYSIS

We present the updated demand and structural energy supply balance for the coming years and our traditional “delay meter”.
