Generation is ready, but not the transmission: And now what?

OPINION

It is with great honor and pleasure that we welcome to Energy Report the Advocacia Waltenberg, led by the lawyers David A. M. Waltenberg and Gerusa Magalhães. The Waltenberg law office needs no introduction, and its debut article ﬁAccess to electric power systems by energy generation from alternate sources: the mismatch between the generation and the transmission schedulesﬂ will exceptionally be the theme of this month™s Opinion section. From the next issues, the contributions of the Waltenberg team will compose a new Legal section.

REGULATIONS

The subjects analyzed in this issue are: (i) the new MME Ordinances and the Free Contracting Environment; (ii) the Regulatory Impact Analysis; and (iii) a Provisional Measure on extinction of (in some cases) and intervention in concessions.

ENVIRONMENTAL

This month, the theme of Environmental section is waterways, an often overlooked alternative for cargo transport network in Brazil. It studies the environmental challenges involved and ways to integrate this solution into the planning of transportation and hydroelectric sectors.

SUPPLY

This section presents an overview of electricity supply in Brazil, through the structural balances of energy and peak developed by PSR.
