New Energy Auctions: Are we moving away from FIFA standards?

OPINION

In this issue we analyze several important issues for the new energy auctions, including: (i) unrealistic deadlines for construction of projects; (ii) the imbroglio of transmission delays; and (iii) the incomplete fulfillment of anticipated demand. Although some of these issues have been discussed separately in previous ER issues, the fientire body of workfl is worrisome.

REGULATIONS

This section discusses the following topics: (1) average price of newly contracted energy in A-5; and (2) the now traditional AP-FEST (festival of ANEEL Public Hearings in the last days of the year).

JURIDICAL

This section aims to analyze, within the electricity sector, two controversial issues - the aggravation of contested decisions (fireformatio in pejusfl) and the exercise by ANEEL (delegator) of activities delegated to State agencies.

ENVIRONMENTAL

The subject of this section is the importance of integrated planning of river basins, focusing on Tapajós river basin.

SUPPLY

This section presents an updated overview of electric energy supply in Brazil, through structural balances of energy (with and without friction factors) and of peak, developed by PSR.
