What is more difficult: to predict stream flows or 'that' game of Brazil?

OPINION

In this section, we highlight the importance of explicitly representing the uncertainty in stream flows forecasting, both for operational decisions and for projection of PLDs; and we showed that the use of weekly rather than monthly estimates may not reduce the operating cost and, additionally, may increase prices variability.

REGULATIONS

In this section, we address the following topics: (1) new methodology for calculating the CME and its impact on the calculation of the physical guarantee of generation projects; (2) ANEEL ruling consolidates the treatment of generation unavailability; (3) a new chapter in the saga of regulating MME Ordinances No. 455/2012 and No. 185/2013.

ENVIRONMENTAL

The subject of this section is the always difficult negotiation with Indian communities.

JURIDICAL

In this section, Advocacia Waltenberg examines the ancient claim of the electricity sector free and special consumers, to be free to sell their electric energy surplus.

SUPPLY

This section features: (i) structural balance of energy; (ii) delays in construction of new supply for the horizon 2014-2018; and (iii) delay meter - monitoring the historical record of delays.
