Santo Antônio Contracts: a real or a paper crisis?

In this issue we address the issue of the (almost) cancellation of the contracts of Santo Antônio hydro plant with regulated and free consumers, and draw lessons from it, and a proposal for an important correction in the course of our commercial model.

The topics of this issue are: (i) further postponement of A-5 auction of 2014; and (ii) detailed analysis of improvements to transmission auctions.

In this section, we comment on the success of the Brazilian program to reduce deforestation, and how this increases the visibility (and pressure for reduction) of emissions from the electrical sector.

This section features: (i) structural balance of energy; (ii) delays in construction of new supply for the horizon 2014-2018; and (iii) delay meter - monitoring the historical record of delays.

Electronically published since 2006, the PSR Energy Report is a monthly newsletter developed by PSR, whose main objective is to present a comprehensive and current analysis of regulatory, legal issues, water resources and environment and supply of the electricity sector in Brazil.
