Commitments of COP 21: How to comply with the government promises?

OPINION

In this and in the coming ER issues we will analyze the commitments made by the Brazilian government at COP 21 in Paris. In this issue, we address the target of achieving an energy efficiency equivalent to 10% of consumption in 2030. We present the benefits for the Brazilian electricity sector and why it is cheaper to invest in energy conservation than in power system expansion. In addition, we propose an agenda not only to achieve the target, but to exceed it.

REGULATIONS

In this section we deal with: (1) the lessons of A-5 auction of 2016; (2) MME begins to command the reliefs from responsibility; and (3) the damage that a provisional measure does.

WATER RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT

In this section we analyze the new chapter of São Luiz do Tapajós hydro plant saga, a new Indian land.

INTERNATIONAL

The topics in this issue are the impressive results of the last solar energy auction in Dubai; and the energy auction announced in Chile.

SUPPLY

This issue presents the updated balance of energy demand and structural supply for the coming years, including our traditional delay meter.
