Advanced Renewable Modeling
Time Series Lab 2.1 introduces the Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) feature, which aims to reduce congestion on power lines, optimize asset utilization, improve efficiency, and cut costs. By dynamically adjusting the presumed thermal capacity of overhead power lines based on real-time environmental and weather conditions, DLR enhances solar and wind integration, reduces curtailment for Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) sources, and makes power generation dispatch more cost-effective. This feature estimates the maximum thermal capacity for each hour, taking into account changes in temperature, solar irradiation, and wind speed.
Additionally, Time Series Lab 2.1 can now operate in stand-alone mode, decoupled from SDDP. This allows users to access TSL's renewable modeling capabilities without needing to open SDDP's interface. This enhancement facilitates better use of the existing grid by leveraging shifting weather conditions and their effects on power lines' thermal capacity, ultimately supporting more efficient and reliable energy distribution.
