Lucas Okamura joined PSR in 2015. Currently divides his activities between studies of generation and transmission expansion planning of power systems, with experience in several countries (Brazil, Chile, Peru, Kosovo, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Paraguay) and development, training, and support of PSR analytical tools, namely: SDDP (mid- and long-term dispatch model); OptGen (generation and interconnection expansion planning model); NetPlan (transmission expansion planning model) and NCP (short-term scheduling model used by several system operators and power utilities).
Graduated in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Between 2014 and 2015, studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester. He is currently doing the MSc dissertation in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) at COPPE/UFRJ.
