Luiz Costa has a BSc in electrical engineering, and MSc and Ph.D. degrees in optimization from COPPE/UFRJ, Brazil. He joined PSR in 2002 and currently coordinates the development and participates in the training and support of PSR's most used tool, the multistage stochastic hydrothermal production simulation model SDDP. He is also involved in the development of other PSR computational models for power systems expansion planning, generation-transmission composite reliability evaluation, transmission cost allocation, generation-demand balancing markets and energy price evaluation. He has vast international experience and has participated in training, support, conferences and projects in Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, India, Italy, Panamá, Turkey, United States and Vietnam.
