João Pedro Bastos joined PSR in 2014 and is currently a project manager in the company’s international consultancy area, carrying out projects focused on the analysis of international electricity markets, market modeling, price forecasting and policy design. He has been the lead market consultant in transactions (M&A and financing deals) of electricity and gas assets in multiple countries in Latin America. Moreover, he has been an instructor in courses about electricity market frameworks, energy auctions and power systems modelling. His international experience encompasses projects in Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Morocco, Turkey, Nepal, and Vietnam, supporting public, private and multilateral institutions. Mr. Bastos has a MSc in Electrical Engineering (Operations Research) from PUC-Rio and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (graduated cum laude). He has authored or co-authored books and technical papers published nationally and abroad. His work as co-author and contributor in publications from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has been supporting policymakers globally to implement auctions to foster their renewable energy development.
