Tunisia has adopted since 2014 a policy of transition energy aiming to achieve a share of Renewable Energy (RE) in the production of electricity by 30% by 2030. To achieve this, Tunisia has set up a framework regulatory to promote massive investment in RE. The major challenge facing all of the public and private stakeholders is how to streamline and accelerate this process.
To this effect, and in the framework of strengthening the capacities of the STEG (Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas) to achieve this goal, the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) with the support of the Tunisian Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy and the National Agency for Energy Management organized a Call for tenders with the objective of acquiring expansion planning software focusing on the renewable energy source integration on behalf of STEG.
After winning this international procurement process, PSR will supply, together with training, the tools for the optimal mid and long-term generation and transmission expansion and operation planning (OPTGEN & SDDP) for the STEG team.
This is an important effort towards the transition of the energy matrix of Tunisia, supported by the United Nations, and PSR is honored to have been chosen for this partnership opportunity for the development of the Tunisian system.
