Mariano Berkenwald joins PSR

Rio de Janeiro, January 10, 2022 - PSR welcomes Mariano Berkenwald to its consulting team. He will act as head of our net zero and ESG activities, offering companies and countries strategies on decarbonization, energy transition plans and economic analysis of promising technologies such as green hydrogen, carbon-captured electricity generation, wood use to replace cement, nature based solutions etc. Mariano will also contribute to PSR's computational models related to the low-carbon economy, in particular in the design of the so-called OptFolio Climate, a decision-making model for asset investments to achieve a given carbon emissions target that integrates technical, financial and climate uncertainties.

Mariano is a chemical engineer with a postgraduate degree in energy and the environment. He worked for 6 years at the International Energy Agency in France, coordinating the activities of the Clean Energy Transitions Programme focusing on Latin America, having been responsible for the analyses related to decarbonization plans of countries in the region, and technological blueprints, such as green hydrogen; and analysis of carbon pricing mechanisms. Previously he was technical and economic analyst of carbon capture and sequestration for hydrogen production at Air Liquide and consultant in the oil and gas areas at Schlumberger Business Consulting, both in France. Mariano is an Argentine, French and Polish citizen and will work at PSR based in France.
