PSR provides training on tools to calculate the benefits of storage systems for EPE and ONS

PSR, in partnership with High Performance Power System Applications (HPPA), provided specialized training as part of the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) project “Technical-economic analysis of the insertion of Battery Storage Systems in the Basic Grid”, conducted for Quantum, a company operating in the electricity transmission sector in Brazil and having as executors PSR, HPPA, FDTE, MRTS, LACTEC, WEG and technical support from the Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE). The training presented the tools used to calculate the benefits of storage systems in the National Interconnected System (SIN), addressing aspects such as flexibility, resilience and reliability, in addition to analyzing other services that could be provided by these systems.

During six days of training at PSR, professionals from the EPE and the National Electric System Operator (ONS) deepened their knowledge of analytical tools from PSR (including SDDP, Netplan, CORAL and PSR Factory) and from HPPA (Organon).

Training was given to an audience of around 20 professionals from the sector

The program included specific modules on battery modeling, reliability analysis, creation and processing of databases and simulation of the insertion of storage systems in the electricity grid. Some of the PSR experts who spoke at the training were Ana Carolina Cunha, Ricardo Perez, David Parrini and Luiz Carlos da Costa Junior. On the HPPA side, Jorge Jardim, Eduardo Teich and Leonardo Pinheiro also gave lectures.

One of PSR’s commitments is to promote the development of advanced technologies for the modernization of the Brazilian electricity sector, train professionals and foster innovation in the area of ​​energy storage. Initiatives like this strengthen the transition to a more efficient, reliable and sustainable system, contributing to the construction of a safer and more resilient energy future.
