About
The application of hydrological and hydrodynamic models is essential for understanding and predicting the behavior of water bodies in different river basins. At PSR, these models are used to simulate the interactions between water resources and the environment, providing a clear and detailed view of the physical processes involved. Based on updated data and advanced techniques, we assist companies and institutions in decision-making for the management of river basins, the operation of hydroelectric plants, Small Hydroelectric Plants (SHPs), and pumped-storage plants, as well as in mitigating environmental risks, with a focus on sustainability and operational efficiency.
What we do
Lumped and distributed rainfall-runoff modeling
Application of concentrated and distributed hydrological models to simulate the rainfall-runoff relationship in river basins, considering land use, observed precipitation, and climate change, with the aim of supporting the planning of hydroelectric plants and hydraulic works.
Hydrodynamic modeling of water quality in reservoirs
Hydrodynamic modeling of rivers and one-dimensional and two-dimensional reservoirs is applied to simulate the behavior of water bodies, to evaluate velocity profiles and drafts in various scenarios, and water quality to assess vegetation suppression in lakes, and to predict environmental impacts to meet regulatory requirements associated with environmental licensing.
Flood propagation studies
Hydrodynamic models are used to simulate the propagation of flood waves in channels, assisting in the mapping of flood-prone areas and the development of contingency plans and natural disaster prevention measures.
Preparation and evaluation of Dam Break analyses
Hypothetical dam break studies are developed based on hydrodynamic modeling. These studies are fundamental for the preparation of Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and risk analyses, which ensure the safety of the population and infrastructure downstream.
