PSR conducts SDDP training for San Diego S.A. in Guatemala

PSR conducted in-person SDDP training for San Diego S.A. in Guatemala City. The main objective of the course was to strengthen the team’s decision-making process through the use of our operational dispatch tool, with explicit representation of network uncertainties and constraints, bringing greater robustness to planning and operation studies.

Over four days of training, theoretical presentations, practical demonstrations, and the joint development of case studies were combined. Throughout the course, both the methodological aspects of the SDDP model and its practical applications to real-world problems in the electricity sector were explored. The Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming (SDDP), the representation of hydrological uncertainties, the generation of synthetic future renewable generation scenarios from global reanalysis databases, and other topics were discussed in detail, always connecting the content to the reality of the Guatemalan electricity market.

The training was conducted by Lucas Okamura and Pedro Hervé, from the PSR Analytical Tools team. “The San Diego S.A. team demonstrated extremely high engagement throughout the course. This greatly facilitated the exchange of knowledge, the depth of technical discussions, and the efficiency of the interactions,” says Pedro Hervé.

PSR thanks San Diego S.A. for its trust and partnership and remains available to support the application of SDDP and its extensions in strategic and operational decision-making in the region.
