One of the main innovations of this version is the integration of the NCP model with a new AC Optimal Power Flow tool. This mechanism offers a refined method of validating the dispatch schedule calculated by NCP on AC power flow, in addition to optimizing reactive and voltage levels in the network.
“In addition to providing a more accurate representation of the transmission network and getting closer to real operating conditions, we believe that this tool will be very useful for operators of different systems due to its automatic integration with the NCP directly in the same computational model”, explains Tiago Andrade, developer of the tool and specialist in PSR’s optimization area.
Other enhancements
In addition to important mathematical modeling refactoring tasks such as the operation of pumped storage hydroelectric plants, hydraulic losses and electrical energy markets, version 5.28 of NCP offers more sophisticated functionalities associated with the representation of inertia for thermoelectric generators, energy price offers for batteries and renewable sources, fuel price scenarios, among other improvements.
Another highlight is the NCP API (application programming interface), now available in Python language, which has a variety of packages that can be combined to manage studies, automate simulations, integrate with SCADA systems and process results efficiently.
The new version of NCP keeps PSR’s tradition of providing robust, user-friendly tools for the energy sector. With the innovations brought by version 5.28, NCP becomes even more consistent and capable of meeting the complex demands of energy dispatch programming, contributing significantly to the efficiency and sustainability of the electrical system.
