PSR User Meeting 2026 to discuss the complexity of the electricity sector and the impacts of AI on decision-making

From May 25th to 29th, PSR will hold the PSR User Meeting 2026 in Foz do Iguaçu (Paraná, Brazil). This event will bring together approximately 150 experts from the electricity sector, representing nearly 20 countries, four continents, and more than 40 institutions, to discuss the current and future challenges in the energy industry.

The program will be structured around two main themes: the increasing complexity of electrical systems and the impacts of artificial intelligence on the sector. Topics under discussion will include energy transition, renewable energy integration, security of supply, resilience, transmission modernization, hydro-thermal operation, climate change, data centers, flexible loads, and new AI applications for analysis and decision-making.

According to CEO Raphael Chabar, the meeting takes place at a time of profound transformations for the industry. “The electricity sector is undergoing changes marked by advances in artificial intelligence, the energy transition, and the search for more resilient and efficient systems. Holding the event in Foz do Iguaçu, including a technical visit to the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant, reinforces the meeting’s connection to themes such as energy integration, operation of large systems, and renewable generation,” he states.

The program will include technical sessions, presentations by users from different countries, case studies, tool demonstrations, and direct interaction with PSR specialists, including applications focused on operation planning, generation and transmission expansion, risk analysis, uncertainty representation, artificial intelligence applied to energy studies, and automation of analytical flows.

According to Luiz Carlos da Costa, technical director of PSR, the PSR User Meeting was structured as a space for technical discussion and exchange of experiences on the main challenges faced by the electricity sector. “The goal is to connect real-world industry problems to methodologies, models, and computational solutions capable of supporting decisions in increasingly complex environments. With the advancement of artificial intelligence, these tools are also incorporating new forms of interaction, automation, and analysis, expanding users’ ability to formulate problems, explore results, and build solutions,” he explains.

This will be the sixth edition of the PSR tools user meeting, first held in 2004. Resumed in 2024, the event became annual and, since 2025, has adopted a global format.
